Q. What is remedial massage? How different from other massage?

The aim of remedial massage is to identify the cause of one’s pain to ensure quick, effective and long lasting results. During the remedial massage consultation, the therapist employs not only massage but also other manipulation techniques such as stretching, corrective exercise and trigger point therapy. The remedial massage can be tender as it works on deep core muscles as well as trigger points (often described as “deep knot” in muscles).

Relaxation massage aims to relax your body by using gentle massage strokes. Relaxation massage is not as effective as remedial massage to eliminate pain, to prevent injuries and to recover quickly after vigorous exercises.

Q. I still feel pain/stiff after massage.

A. The chronic musculoskeletal condition needs on-going attention. The effect of remedial massage may appear within 2-3 days.

Q. I had a massage and I felt even worse afterwards.

A. Massage causes the muscles to release toxins that has built up within the cells. The released toxin will then go back into the system. That is why you feel sick the next day. This is a quite normal and common reaction. You should feel a lot better within 2-3 days after all the toxins are out of the body. To fasten the process and reduce the flu- like symptoms, drink a plenty of water to flush the toxin out of the system.

 Q. Do you have Eftpos/HICAP facility?

A. No. We do not have Eftpos, HICAP or Health Point facility at the moment. Full fee must be made by cash, EFT or Paypal.

Q. Do you do deep tissue massage?

A. Yes. The remedial massage therapists employ a range of deep tissue massage techniques.

Q. I do not like deep tissue massage. Can you do gentle remedial massage?

A. Yes, Remedial massage can be done with gentler massage strokes as well as other palpation techniques; however, it might not be as effective as deep tissue techniques.

Q. I want to have just massage. Why do you ask a lot of questions?

The remedial massage therapist asks you a range of questions in order to locate a cause of your discomfort. Remedial massage is recommended to those who have particular musculoskeletal conditions including muscle stiffness.

If you are after a relaxation massage, please advise us upon booking. You can switch remedial to relaxation massage during the treatment; however, you cannot change from relaxation to remedial massage.

Q. I want to relax and fall asleep. Why do you massage so hard?

The remedial massage can be tender as it works on deep core muscles in order to treat your problem. If you are after relaxation massage, please advise us upon booking.

Q. Do you do full body remedial massage?

A. No, Remedial massage treatments focus on the specific muscles that cause your pain or stiffness.  If you are after a relaxation massage, please advise us upon booking.

Q. I am pregnant. Can you massage pregnant women?

A. Yes. Pregnant women can receive massage after their 1st trimester as long as not having any complications and any issues in the previous pregnancies. The pregnant women can receive massages up to due date and beyond.

Q. Do you do induction massage?

A.  No, Yuka’s remedial massage does not practice induction massage. The aim of pregnancy massage is to reduce the tensions in muscles and soft tissues. The therapist pays extra attentions to avoid any adverse effects.

Q. Do you do Asian massage?

A. No. Although Remedial massage and traditional Asian massages have some similarities in palpation techniques, remedial massage therapists also provide stretching, postural assessments, ergonomic advises and corrective exercises for long term management of your condition.
